SQC (WESTERN REGION) VISITS "KUWAIT SCIENCE CENTER KUWAIT

SQC Team visited KUWAIT SCIENCE CENTRE as part of Educational Plant Tour when the SQC Delegation visited Kuwait for attending the 4th SQC GCC Quality Conference. The Visit was organized by KNPC Organizing Committee and the SQC delegation consisting of more than 15 personnel learned about different initiatives taken at Kuwait Science Center to promote Science in State of Kuwait.

SQC (WESTERN REGION) VISITS "SAUDI ARAMCO’s JEDDAH REFINERY”

SQC Team visited SAUDI ARAMCO’s JEDDAH REFINERY as part of Educational Plant Tour during April 2005.The SQC delegation consisting of 8 personnel visited the Jeddah Refinery and learned about different processes involved in the business of refining oil. The team learned about different safety and quality initiatives Saudi Aramco implements in order to ensure provision of a safe and healthy working environment. It implements one of the strictest quality standards at each level with highly qualified personnel working round the clock. SQC (WR) appreciates its Officer Engr. Talal Mahjoub for organizing this learning event.

SQC (WESTERN REGION) VISITS "AL-WATAN NEWSPAPERFACILITY" IN ABHA

SQC Team visited Al-Watan Newspaper Facility in Abha as part of its Educational Plant Tour Visit during the last week of December 2004. More than 20 Members including the Officers constituted the delegation that visited the Facility. A detailed walk through of the whole facility was provided by the Editor of Al-Watan.

SQC (WESTERN REGION) VISITS "AL-NOOR SPECIALIST HOSPITAL" IN MAKKAH

The first ever visit to Makkah on an Educational Plant Tour by SQC in the Western Region was carried out at "Al-Noor Specialist Hospital" on June 10, 2004. The Plant Tour was a great success with 12 SQC members & officers attending as a team. The Plant Tour started with a presentation from "Al-Noor Specialist Hospital" management on the initiatives of Al-Noor on improving continually the healthcare services provided by this esteemed organization.

Al-Noor is certified to ISO 9001:2000 & 14001 and the event was also marked by celebration of their achieving the prestigious QMS & EMS Certifications. SQC (WR) also takes this opportunity to thank Al-Noor for joining SQC Platinum Corporate Membership. The Healthcare Interest Group within SQC will be more strengthened with Al-Noor coming on board. SQC looks forward to contributing to this very important industry and establishing a mutually beneficial relationship with Al-Noor Specialist Hospital

EDUCATIONAL PLANT TOUR CARRIED OUT AT “UNITED SUGAR COMPANY”

On October 13, 2004 a team of 15 members including SQC Officers visited United Sugar Company (USC) on a scheduled Plant Tour.
The visiting team were provided the overview of the organizational activities in a presentation following a factory visit with USC Management. At the end of the Plant Tour all participants received gifts from USC. SQC team were particularly impressed with the processes being implemented and the technology used in the manufacturing plant. SQC wishes all the best to USC on its future.

SQC (WESTERN REGION) VISITS "SAUDI JAPANESE AUTOMOBILE HIGH INSTITUTE (SJAHI)

On 23 October 2003 about 10 members of SQC attended the SQC Educational Plant Tour at Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institute (SJAHI). The Plant Tour was a great learning experience. A presentation on the activities and the efforts of SJAHI was given followed by a tour. SQC thanks SJAHI for their strong commitment to Quality and appreciate sharing of their unique experience with SQC.

EDUCATIONAL PLANT TOUR CARRIED OUT AT “SAUDI GEOLOGICAL SURVEY (SGS)”

The last SQC-WR Educational Plant Tour was carried out at Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) during April 2003. The Plant Tour was lead by SQC-WR Director, Dr. Ayed T. Al-Amri along with SQC-WR Officers Mr. Salem Baabdullah, Abdullah Turkistani and attended by 10 SQC-WR Members. The TQM Manager Mr. Ahmed Al-Attas who is also one of the officers in SQC-WR Board, gave a presentation on TQM Implementation in SGS which followed the Plant Tour.
Different Departments were visited as a part of providing the awareness on the functions and processes deployed to achieve organization's Mission. SGS applies advanced applications for continuous improvement such as Value Engineering, Balanced Scorecard and ISO 17025 for Labs.

During April, SGS went through a Surveillance Audit by URS, the Certification body and passed the Audit to get the new ISO 9000:2000 Certificate..
